|Erev Shabbat (Friday Evening) Services|
We offer a variety of Erev Shabbat (Sabbath evening) celebrations and we hope that you will experience all of them. Erev Shabbat Services generally begin at 7:30pm.
Regular Shabbat Services feature a sermon delivered by Rabbi Gwasdoff and a Torah Service.
Shabbat with Kolot adds the voice of our Adult Choir, Kolot, directed by Cantorial Soloist Lindy Passer, to our regular Shabbat experience.
Visual T’filah bring the beauty of our world into the sanctuary. The words of our prayers are superimposed on carefully selected pictures meant to augment our spiritual connection to the Divine, to each other and to the natural world.
On Family Fridays, we eat dessert first! Join us for Oneg Shabbat (dessert), Israeli Dancing, and Playtime at 7pm. At 7:30pm feature a short service geared towards the youngest members of our community including story time with Rabbi Gwasdoff. Family Fridays also include class presentations and are followed by Kiddush, Coffee, and Cocoa.
Shabarbeque begins at 6pm with a short service and is followed by a communal BBQ. Participants are asked to bring their own main dish to BBQ and a side dish or salad to share with the community.
Shabbat & Cinema is an abbreviated Shabbat service followed by a film featuring Jewish content.
Special Shabbat services are offered throughout the year to enrich our holiday celebrations. These experiences include Yom HaShoa (Holocaust Remembrance Day) and Yom Ha’Atzmaut, (Israel’s Independence Day).
|Shabbat Morning/Afternoon Services (Saturday)
For over 150 years, it has been our community’s custom to celebrate Shabbat together on Friday nights rather than Saturday mornings; however, when we celebrate a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, families are given the opportunity to select either a Shabbat morning (Saturday @ 10am) or Shabbat afternoon service (Saturday @ 4pm). Bar and Bat Mitzvah services are open to the community.
