Temple Israel, originally founded in 1850 as Congregation Rhyim Ahoovim, is one of the oldest Jewish communities in California. One of our earlier synagogue buildings is a City of Stockton Historic Landmark and our cemetery is a California Historical Landmark, recognized as the oldest Jewish cemetery in continuous operation west of the Mississippi River. Temple Israel has proudly been a part of Stockton's history since the city's early days, adding to the diversity of both Stockton and the extended San Joaquin community.  Come enjoy great food, great music, and so much more as we celebrate this amazing time in the life of our community.
