Funds and Accounts

General Fund –
For all regularly budgeted income and expense resulting from Temple operations, including but not limited to payroll, insurance and utilities. Receipts are the result of dues collections, miscellaneous donations and interest income. Funds are disbursed by authority of the Board of Directors.

Building Maintenance Fund –
For all income and expense related to regular maintenance and upkeep of the Temple building. Receipts are the result of one-time pledges required of new members, miscellaneous donations, and interest income. In addition, $50,000 from the Capital Campaign Fund has been Board-designated for this fund. Funds are disbursed by authority of the Board of Directors or, for minor amounts, at the discretion of the Treasurer.

Cemetery Fund –
For all income and expense related to the cemetery. Receipts are the result of plot sales, miscellaneous donations, and interest income. In addition, the $70,000 principal amount of the Emil Gumpert Cemetery Fund has been donor-restricted so that its interest income shall perpetually go toward the upkeep of the cemetery. Funds are disbursed by authority of the Board of Directors or, for minor amounts, at the discretion of the Cemetery Committee.

Capital Campaign Fund –
For all income and expense related to renovation of the Temple building. Receipts are the result of voluntary pledges by member and non-members, and interest income. In addition, principal amounts of the Bea Schwartz Library Fund, the David Winnick Library Fund, and the Voltaire Larson estate have been donor-restricted and Board-restricted to apply toward the renovation. Funds are disbursed by authority of the Board of Directors or, for minor amounts, at the discretion of the Renovation Committee.

Epstein Campership Fund –
To provide funds for camp expenses for needy members’ children. Receipts are the result of a one-time donation from Charles Epstein, miscellaneous donations, and interest income. Funds are augmented by donations from the Temple Israel Foundation Fund and disbursed by authority of the Campership Committee or the Board of Directors.

Israel Travel Fund –
Scholarships of up to $1500 per trip are available to temple members traveling to Israel on a congregational tour, a Jewish national Fund trip, or other similar program. Funds will be awarded by the Board of Directors and will be based on age (preference given to those 30 years and older), financial need, and potential benefit to the individual and the community. Benefits to the community could include: leadership development, class or community presentations, and inspiring other to visit our homeland.

Library Fund –
For all income and expense related to the Temple library. Receipts are the result of miscellaneous donations and interest income. In addition, the principal amount of the Shirley A. and Harry L. Silver Library Fund has been donor-restricted for computer hardware and software, and a one-time donation from Barbara Schwartz has been donor-restricted for shelving and furniture. Funds are disbursed by authority of the Board of Directors under the advisement of the Library Committee.

Music Fund –
For all income and expense related to the Temple music program. Receipts are the result of various fundraising events, miscellaneous donations, and interest income. Funds are disbursed by authority of the Board of Directors or, for minor amounts, at the discretion of the Music Director.

Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund –
For the discretionary use of the Rabbi. Receipts are the result of miscellaneous donations and interest income. Funds are disbursed by authority of the Rabbi.

Religious School Tzedakah Fund –
For all income and expense related to charitable donations from religious school collections. Receipts are the result of various fundraisers, miscellaneous donations, and interest income. Funds are disbursed by authority of the Educator.

Seligman Memorial Fund – 
In memory of Katherine Seligman Gellman. The purpose of this fund has not yet been specified by the Seligman family. Receipts are the result of principal amounts donated from time to time by the Seligman family, miscellaneous donations, and interest income. No mechanism exists for the disbursement of funds.

Stein Children’s Fund –
To provide funds for Temple youth. Receipts are the result of a one-time donation from Sid Stein, miscellaneous donations, and interest income. Funds are disbursed by authority of the Board of Directors.

Tzedakah Fund –
To provide funds for charitable contributions in the name of Temple Israel. Receipts are the result of miscellaneous donations and interest income. Funds are disbursed by authority of the Board of Directors.

Women of Temple Israel –
For all income and expense related to the activities of the Women of Temple Israel (nee: Sisterhood). Receipts are the result of dues, sales from the Judaica Shop, miscellaneous donations, and interest income. Funds are disbursed by authority of the Women of Temple Israel.

Youth Group Account –
For all income and expense related to the Youth Group. Receipts are the result of dues, various fundraising events, miscellaneous donations, and interest income. Funds are disbursed by authority of the Youth Group.
