SUNDAY CLASSES

RAISING a MENSCH: TEENS & TWEENS
Day/Time: Sundays @ 9am
Location: Simchat Torah Room

Being a parent is absolutely the most difficult job in the world. The wisdom and traditions of our people can lighten the load by providing guidance, insight and direction. Join Rabbi, Lindy, and other parents to discover how Judaism can inform your daily interactions and make a real difference in the life of your family. This course will focus on teens and tweens, and will also address the blessings and challenges parents face as their own parents age.

DECODING (BEGINNING) HEBREW
Day/Time: Sundays @ 10am
Location: Simchat Torah Room
Facilitator: Sophia Boisa
Learn the Alef Bet and become a Hebrew reader by the end of the year. This course focuses on decoding only. It does not include comprehension or vocabulary building skills. Textbook $45.

PRAYERBOOK HEBREW
Day/Time: Sundays @ 11am
Location: Chanukah Room
Facilitator: Jonathan Jacoby
This course begins with a two week review of our Hebrew Decoding skills. Beginning with week #3, we’ll be focusing on the vocabulary found in our Erev Shabbat (Friday evening) service. Please note that after the first two weeks, we will be spending minimal time boosting our decoding skills. Textbook $20.

Israeli Dancing is great fun, great exercise, and a great way to connect with the community. We meet three times per week: Tuesdays @ 9am, Wednesdays @ 5:30pm & Fridays @ 9am. Come once, twice, or three times per week.

WEDNESDAY CLASSES

ISRAELI DANCING
Day/Time: Wednesday @ 5:30pm

Israeli Dancing is great fun, great exercise, and a great way to connect with the community. We meet three times per week: Tuesdays @ 9am, Wednesdays @ 5:30pm & Fridays @ 9am. Come once, twice, or three times per week.

ETHICS of OUR PEOPLE
Day/Time: Wednesday @ 6:30pm
Location: Simchat Torah Room

Our religious and spiritual tradition has been largely concerned with regulating behavior through a wide-ranging legal system. Together we will study how that system has evolved throughout the generations and how it continues to be relevant and applicable in today’s world. Our course will include text study, chevruta (partner) study, and case studies from a variety of Jewish and secular sources.

KOLOT: ADULT CHOIR
Day/Time: Wednesday @ 7:30pm
Location: Rosenberg Hall

Sing unto G-d a new song! You do not need to know how to read music to join our adult choir, Kolot. If Jewish music speaks to your soul or you just love to sing, join us! High Holyday Kolot meets on Wednesdays from 7:30p-9:00p from August 28-October 2. Regular Kolot meets on Wednesdays from 7:30p-8:30p beginning October 23. Join one or both!

THURSDAY CLASSES

BIBLICAL HEBREW
Day/Time: Call the office for details (Generally meets on Thursdays @ 10am, but subject to change)

If you’re a good Hebrew reader and have some vocabulary under your belt, join Biblical Hebrew. We’ll be focusing on words, phrases, and grammatical structure using texts from Torah as our guide.

TORAH STUDY with RASHI
Day/Time: Thursday @ 11am

Location: Simchat Torah Room
Facilitator: Karma
Study Torah with a focus on commentary by the great Rabbi Shlomo Yitzchaki, better known as RASHI.  Join a great group of people for dialogue, discussion, and debate as we bring new meaning to ancient texts. Textbook $18

EXPLORING JUDAISM
Day/Time: Thursday @ 5:30pm
Location: Simchat Torah Room

Been a Jew your whole life and feel like you hardly know anything about Judaism? Considering conversion? Not Jewish, but raising a Jewish child or grandchild? This is the course for you! Explore the beliefs, traditions, and customs of our people.

Day/Time: Last Friday of the Month @ 6:30pm

Facilitator: Deborah Mendoza
Our Book Club generally meets on the last Friday of the month. Read great books and discuss them with great minds! Selections include both fiction and non-fiction and are determined by the group.
